Applications are invited for the full-time post of Elite Sport Programme Manager. AESPM primary responsibility is for the day-to-day management, delivery, and development of the Army Elite Sport Programme (AESP).  Established in 2014, the AESP is to ‘enable serving soldiers to regularly win medals at World Championships and Olympic games’. Success for the AESP is measured by the volume of Army athletes entering into World Class Programmes (WCPs) and winning podium places at senior international competitive events (non-age group) such as Olympic, World Championship, European Championship, and Commonwealth Games.

The applicant will expect to have a strong sport science degree and ideally qualified to MSc in a linked sport related area.  Previous military service as an Army officer or civilian equivalent will be essential as will be a thorough understanding of the Army’s manning and career management processes. The post requires a sound knowledge of the Army structure, practices, and procedures. The individual will be able to demonstrate strong leadership and management skills, excellent communication skills and a blend of sound judgment, tact and diplomacy. The post requires experience of successfully delivering large scale projects and managing multiple tasks.  Proven experience and understanding of Army Sport will be essential.  Experience of public accounts and non-public investments is desirable. There will be significant travel and some anti-social hours associated with the AESPM role.
